Facebook said it had determined the engineer had caused the problem with a networking problem that disrupted communications between its data centers, and the server could not communicate.

In a statement emailed to US Today, Facebook said: “We are sorry today for those who have been affected by the problems on our platform. We know that billions of people and businesses around the world depend on our products and services

According to the site Downdetector.com,  Facebook-owned platforms shut down at 11:30 a.m. Monday. Around 5:40 p.m., some users were able to access those platforms, but not all functions were returned properly.

Were those data compromised after the Facebook outage?

Facebook has said before that it is aware of that problem and is working to get it back to normal as soon as possible.
